Tour Guide?

My family and I are planning to travel from Georgia to Canada in an RV next year. We would like to hire a private tour guide to drive and give us a guided tour in between. any suggestions on where i might hire such a person to do that? any suggestions for alternatives?

I made a 5 month trip to Alsaka with my wife in '06 and plan to return in '09. Our returned trip has been delayed twice due to my prostate cancer. Either I will be cured or terminal next April, so we decided to go.

We left Florida April 20, 2006, arrived in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada on May 14, 2006. From there we took the drive down to Skagway, Alaska. It was two more days to Alaska so we decided to see Skagway early.

You could join a RV Caravan and spend 30+ days following your tour guide. You will see a lot and if you'd like to stay longer, too bad, follow the leader.

My wife and I were in our mid 60's and took this trip alone. We did research and found the roads weren't that bad and well patrolled. We decided to stay in road stops rather than campgrounds. We saved lots of money and had wonderful scenery when we woke in the morning. Sometimes we woke to moose looking in the windows.

All you do is purchase a copy of the Milepost, the Alaskan travelers bible. The book is a bargin no matter where you purchase it. We got ours at Amazon for half the store price.

By studing this book, signing up at Alsakan web sites you will be a great tour guide on your own.

Read my blog on Yahoo360 for pictures of our trip along with comments.

We drive a 36' Ultrasport diesel and tow a green Saturn Vue. If you see us blow you horn and I'll pull over and let you know what you may have missed.

Also there is a Toursaver coupon book that will save you lot's of money with two for ones.

Enjoy your self and travel safe.
