Best Hot Springs in Colorado - part 2
One on my favorite things to do in Colorado is to soak in the hot mineral water pool, especially if it's outside. The effect is best when it's snowing.
Here are the few good places for you:
Sand Dune Pool in town of Hooper. It is large outdoor pool and family swimming center. Swimming pool, decks, greenhouse lounge, and family picnic area. The "Hooper Pool," as it is affectionately called by locals, technically is not quite a hot springs, since it is fed by warm water from a 4,400-feet-deep well that delivers water instead of black, gooey oil. While there are over 15 different minerals found in the chemical analysis, the four most abundant minerals in the water are: sodium chloride, potassium sulfate, calcium sulfate, and calcium bicarbonate.
Hot Sulphur Springs in town of Granby (just a little way from the ski resort of Winter Park). Here you will find Pools, soaking caves, and a small conference facility. With seemingly endless views of the Arapaho National Forest, a world-class river that runs from just out in front of your pool all the way to Mexico, and some of Colorado's most beautiful high mountains, this is a marvelous place to begin some wonderful outdoor adventures. In Hot Sulphur Springs, there are seven natural springs flowing above the largest fissure that have been flowing constantly for hundreds of years, surfacing at about 104 to 126 degrees. Over 200,000 gallons of natural hot mineral-rich water flow through the 22 mineral pools and baths every day at controlled temperature of 95 to 112 degrees. There are no abrasive minerals or harmful elements in the water, which is drinkable as well. This resort has been continually operational for 140 years.
Strawberry Park Hot Springs by Steamboat Springs. Located 7 miles away from the town, these 105 degrees pools are in the forest setting, in the winter are only accessible by 4WD.
