Selecting the 7 Urban Wonders of the World
What do the Amsterdam canals, the London underground, and Tel Aviv's White City have in common? Not much, but they are unique or extraordinary man-made constructions created to serve an expanding metropolis and that have been models for other works. They're just three candidates to become part of a carefully-selected list of icons and urban centers to be declared the seven urban wonders of the world by a travel website.
It was put together by UCityGuides.com, a travel guide featuring the best of the world's major cultural cities for cosmopolitan travelers. Now those travelers are being given a chance to also have a say on what they find truly wonderful and outstanding, and visitors to the site will be able to vote until July, the seventh month of the year when the final results will be announced.
Whether responsible for urban renewal or meant to stand as triumphant examples of new engineering and architectural advances, these wonders are pioneering constructions that inspire the creative mind and those looking to continuously improve the world's great urban centers.
