Lonely Planet or Rough Guide. Which is better?

I will be going abroad for the Fall semester to study in Egypt and travel to other countries in the Middle East as well as Europe. I want some guidebooks, but which one is most accurate, helpful, or the pros and cons of each?

As a side note, does either guide give advice on travel if you are in the GLBT community?

i have always found lonely planet to be extremely useful and accurate. it has advice for the glbt community
