Best travel agency/tour company, or monastery that offers spiritual retreats in India?
I would like to travel to India for approx. 3-4 weeks for a spiritual retreat, preferably with a guru/guide to help me on this journey (someone to guide me spiritually). I'm interested in staying in a monastery, such as Pemayangtse Monastery - 1 day from Gangtok, Sikkim. I would also like to spend time in Varansi, Dharamasala and Hardiwar.
I'm NOT interested in one of those tours where people spend 1 day in a place, and move on the next morning, etc. I would like to spend time in a place, and not simply be a conventional tourist. I'm looking for an authentic experience. Also, I will be travelling alone, so I need an agency that will provide a guide of some sort as I haven't travelled alone before.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Any information about monasteries that will accept students of spirituality for periods of time (possibly in exchange for money and some work at the monastery)? I'm looking for any tips, advice and very open to any and all information!
