why do people must have knowledge about tourism?
why do travel agents, tour guides and hotel owners need to be knowledgable about current trends/demands in the travel industry?
Because their jobs and livelihoods depend on their knowledge of the industry to attract and retain customers.
Travel agents need to be able to advise customers on options for their vacations and business trips, including where to go, when to go, how to get there, where to stay, activities to do, etc.
Tour guides need to be able to put together a package tour that will attract customer, and then be able to execute that tour so that customers leave satisfied. Ideally they will return in the future or refer their friends.
Hotel owners need to understand their client base -- where people come from, what they want in a hotel, how much they will pay, etc. They need to stay in touch w/ the competition and set policy. If tourists and business travelers dry up, business will suffer.
