Troas , your Place of Waiting
This is the story of Brian Doersken, a Canadian songwriter and a worship leader. He was popular and known of his passion to lead worship to God. This is his strength, until tragedy
struck his family.. when three of his six children suffered fragile X syndrome. This genetic disorder causes varying degrees of mental retardation. His son Benjamin , a 10 year old requires a constant care.. needs to be assisted when brushing his teeth, changed his diapers and constantly need to be guided in his special diet.
Brian had to make a very serious decision..one that will put him away from his usual passion..to lead worship. With pain and heaviness in his heart, Brian considered leaving the music ministry so he can attend to his children.
His story happens to many people.. it may vary in situations and circumstances..but it has one thing in common, a closing of door . The Bible has given us an example of this problem in the life of Paul. He was successful in his mission trips.. where ever he goes there are people gathered to listened to him. There are people that are willing to assist him to gather this people. Everything seems to be doing well until one day, he and his companions can only travel in the Regions o f Phrygia and Galatia because the Holy Spirit prevented them to preached in Asia.
Upon reaching the border of Mysia, they again attempted to enter Bithynia but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them, So they remained to stay in Troas..without any speaking engagements. During the night, Paul had a vision of a man from Macedonia standing and begging him " to come to Macedonia and help us "
What is Troas? It is a place of waiting for a vision to be revealed . It is a place where all the doors are closed before you . though how much you would attempt to open it , you can''t. If you would use tools to forcibly open it... the more your situations become hurting, difficult and the longer you will stay in your Troas. Only God can open a door for us and can close it...and when He does nobody can .
What is your Troas ? It can be a closed door of opportunity,, where ever you would go ..everything are closed.. not even a window is open for you. Your Troas is your place of God''s dealing in your attitude, in your character and a place for Him to show Himself to you... for your faith, trust and belief in Him to grow.
Troas is a place for you to received your Macedonian vision, direction, guidance and reveals His plans to you.
Your Macedonia is your new opened door. Some stayed longer in their Troas because they resisted, evade or refuse the dealings of God. While others are still waiting for their Macedonian vision.. although they are already in the place of Macedonia... for they just failed to recognized it because they are so focus to their old door. Get your eyes off from it and begin to fix your sight where you are and you will be amaze to see how God has been busy in your new door.
Brian , in those limping period was able to write a song that would become popular
around the world. In those experiences he never give up his worship, even without the congregation beform.. alone in his room.. with his children , he continued to worship the Lord in his heart and the passion to worship continue to set him ablaze that inspired him to write " Come, now is the time to worship. "
