Traveling to England/London, easy to get around or should i use tour guide?
I'm travelling to London (and surrounding areas) in January 2008 alone, should i go with a group/tour guide package or will it be easy to get around by myself?
January is a great time to go, you will miss all the crowds and I always find that buildings and nature look more majestic in on a winter's morning. Plus it will be a lot cheaper!
You definitely don't need a tour group, just buy yourself a good guide book and decide where you want to go and what you want to see. Traveling around is easy, and the great thing about being alone is the freedom to make your own schedule. The trains and buses are great ways to get around, and they are much more comfortable than Amtrak or Greyhound (thank goodness).
